The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Nigeria has sounded a serious warning over the alarming rise in new HIV infections among young women.
According to recent data, more than 4,000 girls and young women between ages 15 and 24 become infected with HIV every single week, highlighting a growing public health concern.
Health experts attribute the surge to limited access to sexual health education, unsafe sexual practices, and gender-based inequalities that make young women more vulnerable.
AHF Nigeria is urging the government, schools, and communities to strengthen HIV awareness campaigns, expand access to testing and treatment, and prioritize prevention programs targeting young women.
💬 “We cannot remain silent while thousands of our daughters and sisters continue to be infected weekly,” the foundation warned.
