Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have finally arrived in Uyo after their flight made an emergency landing in Angola on Saturday due to a cracked window onboard the aircraft.
According to reports, the team was en route to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their upcoming 2026 World Cup Qualifier match when pilots detected a crack in one of the aircraft’s windows, forcing an unscheduled stop in Luanda, Angola for safety reasons.
Sources confirmed that the incident caused a few hours delay, but no injuries were reported among players or officials. The team later continued their journey safely after the aircraft was cleared for departure.
A statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) described the incident as a “minor technical issue” and thanked fans for their concern, assuring that “all players and officials are safe and focused on the game ahead.”
Players were spotted arriving in Uyo early Sunday morning, with optimism high ahead of their next qualifier fixture.
