Finland Seasonal Work Permit 2025 Now Open for Nigerians, Other Foreigners

Nigeria’s government reports that the Finnish Immigration Service has officially opened applications for its 2025 Seasonal Work Permit, giving Nigerians and other foreign nationals a chance to work in Finland’s agriculture, forestry, and tourism sectors.

🔍 Key Details

  • Minimum Wage: The permit guarantees workers at least €1,430 per month, which is roughly ₦2.2 million given current exchange rates.
  • Duration: Work permitted for up to nine months within a twelve-month period.
  • Types of Permits:
    1. Seasonal Work Visa – for jobs lasting up to 3 months. Applicants from visa-requiring countries apply via Finnish embassies.
    2. Residence Permit for Seasonal Work – for employment lasting 3 to 9 months. Must be obtained before entering Finland. Processing times can reach up to 90 days.

⚠️ Requirements

  • A signed employment contract with a Finnish employer is mandatory.
  • Accommodation must meet Finland’s health and safety standards.
  • Valid passport, proof of accommodation, and any other required documents must be submitted.

📍 Why This Matters

For many Nigerians, this opportunity could mean a significant boost in earnings compared to local wages, and provides a pathway to legal and temporary work abroad. As Finland seeks to fill labor gaps in seasonal sectors, programs like these are becoming an increasing part of their labor immigration strategy.
