BREAKING NEWS: Nigeria Police Deports Notorious Chinese Fugitive, Dai Qisheng, After Arrest in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the deportation of a notorious Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China following his arrest in Abuja. According to police sources, Qisheng, who had been on China’s wanted list for several high-profile financial and corporate crimes, was apprehended in the Federal Capital Territory during a special intelligence-led operation coordinated with international law enforcement agencies.

Authorities disclosed that Dai Qisheng, described by Chinese officials as a high-risk economic offender, had fled to Nigeria in a bid to evade justice after being implicated in large-scale financial fraud and money laundering operations worth millions of dollars. His movements within Abuja were closely monitored by operatives of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) in collaboration with Nigerian security agencies before he was eventually captured.

Following his arrest, Qisheng was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force’s Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, where necessary legal and diplomatic procedures were undertaken to facilitate his deportation. The fugitive was subsequently placed on a special flight and returned to Beijing under heavy security escort.

A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) emphasized that the successful arrest and deportation of Mr. Dai Qisheng underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global security, international cooperation, and the fight against transnational crime. The police further assured the public that Nigeria would not serve as a safe haven for fugitives or individuals attempting to escape prosecution in their home countries.

The Chinese government has since acknowledged the deportation and expressed appreciation to Nigeria for its swift cooperation, noting that the move strengthens bilateral relations between both nations in the areas of security and crime prevention.

With this development, security experts say Nigeria has once again reinforced its position as a responsible partner in the global war against financial crimes, terrorism, and cross-border criminality.
