JUST IN: NiMet Forecasts Thunderstorms and Rainfall Nationwide from Monday to Wednesday

Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a fresh weather forecast, warning of widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across several parts of the country from Monday through Wednesday.

According to NiMet, northern states are expected to experience intense thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, while the central region will likely see scattered showers and intermittent downpours. The southern parts of the country, particularly the coastal states, will experience heavy rainfall with chances of localized flooding in low-lying areas.

The agency has advised the public to take precautionary measures against potential hazards such as slippery roads, reduced visibility, flash floods, and possible disruption to air and road transport. Farmers and those in water-related activities are also urged to plan accordingly in light of the forecast.

NiMet reaffirmed its commitment to providing timely updates to ensure public safety and reduce the risks associated with extreme weather conditions. Nigerians are encouraged to stay alert, monitor official advisories, and prioritize safety during this period of unstable weather.
