BREAKING: Ogun Police Arrest Man Caught on Video Violently Assaulting Wife in Illese-Ijebu

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Fatai Quadri after a disturbing video surfaced online showing him violently assaulting his wife, Rukayat Quadri, at their residence in Illese-Ijebu.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on September 15, 2025, but only came to light after a viral video circulated across social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage and calls for justice. In the footage, Quadri was seen repeatedly attacking his wife in a manner that has been described as both “barbaric and inhumane.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ogun State, in a statement issued on Sunday, said that the suspect was tracked down and arrested following swift action by operatives. He added that the victim, Rukayat, is currently receiving medical attention and has been placed under protective care to ensure her safety.

Human rights activists and women advocacy groups have also condemned the act, urging authorities to ensure that the case is pursued to its logical conclusion as a deterrent to others.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police assured the public that the command remains committed to tackling cases of domestic violence, stressing that “such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstance.”

The suspect, Fatai Quadri, is expected to be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
