The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has issued a strong warning to loan apps and businesses harassing Nigerians over unpaid debts. The Commission emphasized that no consumer should be subjected to intimidation, threats, or public shaming as a result of financial obligations.
In its statement, the FCCPC encouraged affected individuals to come forward and report such practices through its official complaint channels, assuring the public of strict enforcement actions against violators.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumers’ rights, stressing that while repayment of loans is a responsibility, harassment and unlawful debt recovery practices will not be tolerated in Nigeria.
